Go Greased Lightning!

I created this LEGO version of the iconic car from Grease (and the scene at the end of the song Greased Lightning with the T-Birds posed on the car) as a LEGO Ideas project. Unfortunately it wasn’t accepted due to some existing relationship between Ford and LEGO. Still love how it came out though…!

The printing of the lightning on the car was done as usual for me by Fab Bricks. And – a first for me – I had some parts chromed to really capture that shiny look. I used Custom Bricks for that. The figures of the T-Birds – Danny Zuko, Kenickie, Doody, Sonny, and Putzie – were a particular challenge for me as I’ve tended to stick to inanimate objects so far in my LEGO career!

Grease of course is a classic film from 1978 featuring John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, and now also a very popular musical. Whilst the original film – and the song Greased Lightning – raises some interesting questions around “behaviour” in young adults, the song is still a classic.

There are no instructions for this bespoke LEGO model I’m afraid, but it may be something I work on one day.
