Brick Train Awards winner!

Posted by Steve • 8th March 2021

I'm delighted to have won in the 'other locomotive' category at the second Brick Train Awards, for the Europe region.

My model of Stephenson's Rocket is approx. 1:5 scale making it 160cm long and using probably 5,000+ pieces! It was created for an exhibition celebrating great leaps forwards and is currently on display at the Centre for Life in Newcastle, along with a load of other models I created in 2019 and 2020.

Stephenson's Rocket has become a bit of an obsession for me, with another version currently on LEGO Ideas gathering votes to become an official set. Whilst architecture is my main line of work as a LEGO artist, in recent years I've worked on a number of vehicles and other objects. What remain the same for me is to capture them as accurately as possible. This build allowed me to really go to town with detail, something that I don't like to compromise on much! Check out all the other winners of the 2021 Brick Train Awards here.
